DUNKXCHANGE

If your a true sneaker head, there are conventions you can go to that are just like a car show. You can go and look at other peoples nice Nikes and other brands. People that really love there shoes keep them clean and do not crease them. At these get-togethers you can also trade people your shoes for other shoes that you want. Say you get bored of a pair of sneakers you have, you can go to one of these and trade with someone. You can also purchase clothing hats and brand new sneakers at these conventions too.
Vender at DUNKXCHANGE
At many of these conventions they sometimes have rappers come shoe some of there sneakers and put on a performance. One of the major conventions name DUNKXCHANGE, named after the pair of Nike's named Dunks, travels around the country to major cities holding swap meets of shoes and clothes. Sometimes they might not be held on the best side of town but is worth the risk. Sometimes you may also have to pay an initial fee to get in.
Almost all of Flight Club NY's sneakers in one of their 2 stores in NYC
(no there are no mirrors in this picture making the store look bigger)
Also another great place to get sneakers that most people can't get there hand on that are more unique then lames get at the mall, are at boutiques. 2 common boutiques are called Flight Club New York and Flight Club Los Angeles. They have almost ever pair of off the market or fresh looking sneaker you can think of. And obviously there shoes are more money because there not a corporation and they only have a limited amounts of already limited amount made sneakers.

Fakes.

There are people out in the world that think they can get away with selling fake shoes to people at retail price. Nike SB's are one of the most popular shoes that get made for a cheap price and are recognizable when fake. There are many ways to tell if the shoes you are going to purchase are fake. One way is by looking at the box. That is if they come with a box or not. Most of the time when your going to purchase them online they may not come with a box so you also have to be albe to tell through the pictures.
Comparing real and fake lace bags
One way to tell through a picture if Nike SB's are fake or not is by looking at the little ziplock bag with the extra and different color shoelaces in it. One detail on the bag is that the zip-tie that attaches the bag to the shoe on real ones are punched through the the top right above the zip. On fake bags the hole punched through them is punched into the bag itself. Another hint on the bag is that the print saying Nike SB and the swoosh(Nike check mark) are printed on the real ones in a shiny smooth font, the fakes have a rough looking flat black color to them.
Sole of a real SB
Another way to tell is by looking at the bottom of the sole of the shoe. On real ones the Nike SB, the swoosh and the little R for registered trademark are all the same hight. On fakes the R is not the same hight as the other symbols and is smaller along with faded.

Size tag of a real SB
A last way to tell that is one of the most known ways to tell is by looking at the inner tags of the shoe. On the tag of the real ones there is a little HJ which is printed a size bigger then the production number. On fakes the HJ is the same size as the production number. One last way to tell is the date on the legit ones are far from the barcode, while the fakes are close.

SB History

In 1997, Nike attempted to break into the skateboarding industry by producing their line of skate shoes. The break through finally happened in 2002 due to collaborations Slam City Skates and Supreme Clothing. Nike had signed pro skateboarder Paul Rodriguez to boost popularity inside the new line of skate shoes. Gaining popularity, Nike started engineering and releasing new shoes yearly. Along with the yearly releases there were special edition SB's were featured for a limited amount of time.
Brand new pair of Tiffany's
One of the first limited edition sneaker put out by Nike SB were a pair called the Tiffany in 2005. Since they were only limited edition release they now go for roughly $830.00. As time went on Nike started releasing other shoes besides SB Dunks. Such as Nike SB Air Trainers, Blazers, Bruins, Classics, Dunk High Mid and Low tops, and several different types of Zooms. Along with all the new models came all new special edition sneakers.
Wu-Tangs
The most notorious pair of special edition Nike's (not Nike SB's) is the Wu-Tangs named after the rap group from New York City. There were only 36 pair created with the famous Wu-Tang "W" symbol embroidered on the side. Due to only 36 pairs being made, it is hard to get your hands on them and they run from $5,000-$7,000. Many people try to make fake ones and sell them off as real ones but real sneaker heads can tell the difference. Due to high demand, Nike SB released a similar color way in 2010 in mid-tops instead of the original high-tops.
